Why Ortega Fish Shack ?
Legend and hearsay has it that Ortega was a man born on a fishing boat off the coast of Venezuela, to mixed blood, wealthy parents who had fled Spain to the southern Caribbean in the 1850’s. Ortega grew up with a love of the sea, it’s bounty, and the epicurean tastes of his eccentric father. He soon became an expert at cooking and inventing fish dishes and in time, his legend was such that foodies travelled far and wide to eat at Ortega’s Fish Shack. Read the full story
