Our philosophy is rooted in a genuine and life-long love of food, wine and good times around the table. I’ve been in love with the idea of food, and the pleasure it brings us on so many levels, for as long as I can remember.
Fresh ingredients, flavours, textures, experiments and old favourites fill my imagination to the point that I pretty much think in the “food effect”.
Having travelled several times to the best Europe has to offer, as well as many other great chef’s restaurants in Australia and New Zealand, I strive to bring a quality and integrity to every dish that leaves our kitchen bound for your enjoyment.
At Ortega Fish Shack and Bar, we aim to provide an atmosphere where you can really relax and enjoy an evening of fine food, fine wine and great service, that won’t break the bank.
Our decor is quirky, designed as much to entertain as it is to promote a feeling of ease, while our service is slick and professional. You can enjoy a cold beer from our eclectic list, or a fine sherry to start the evening, while you kick back and let the menu and the experience lift you away.
We source the freshest of New Zealand’s ingredients from some of the country’s best producers, and couple them with interpretations designed to bring your palate an experience it will remember.
